Meet our ministry team
Our ministry team is dedicated to meeting you wherever you are at in life. We understand life can throw all of us twists and turns that we never anticipated. Our goal is to walk with you through the good, the bad, and the ugly. As the scripture instructs us, we will rejoice with you when you rejoice, and we will weep with you when you weep. Although we are involved in ministry, we are still subject to the same things you are subjected to....we're not perfect....so, we can probably identify with any struggles you may be experiencing.

Ted F. Mitchell
Pastor Ted has been pastor of Christian Assembly since February of 2009. Over the years he has found that people are his passion. He doesn't feel complete unless he has the opportunity to help someone else grow as a person and in their relationship with God.
Pastor Ted is married to Francine and they have 3 married adult children, and 3 beautiful granddaughters, and a handsome grandson!!!
He went skydiving a few years ago and wants to do it again!

Jess Townsend
Jess has a variety of interests which include four children, seven grandchildren, sky diving, sky diving instructor, competitive ping pong as well as working on his pilot's license.
Jess loves ministry and is actively involved as a Deacon, Men's Ministry Coordinator and shares God's word at our Kalamazoo Gospel Mission "Bread of Life" outreach.
Jess and his wife, Margie, have been a blessing to all that come in contact with them.

Martha Jimenez
Deacon
Martha has faithfully served as the church Treasurer for 11 years and is committed to serving with excellence in this position. She has been able to see first-hand the overall increase in giving as the church grows and expands their vision toward reaching the Portage/Kalamazoo community as well as focusing on world-wide missions. She desires to see the generosity of Christian Assembly increase as the church continues to grow and expand their vision.
Martha has been married to her husband, Joe, for 49 years and they both have served the Christian Assembly family very faithfully for many years. They have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren. In her spare time Martha enjoys visiting with family and friends, shopping (always looking for a bargain), and vacationing with family members. She also is very involved with the Christian Assembly Women’s Ministries and has a great appreciation for the bond of friendship she has developed with others through the various ministries of the church.
Cyndi Chupp
Sunday School Coordinator
Cyndi has a genuine heart-felt love for children and has taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She strongly believes Sunday School helps to provide a solid foundation for the Christian life.
She states, “My goal as the Sunday School Coordinator has always been, ‘MORE!’ I desire for us to reach and teach MORE people the life changing principles of God’s Word! It’s a wonderful thing to see people, young and old, enjoying the Word of God together!”Cyndi also loves to spend time with her son, Anthony, talking with him about his interest in cars, video games and planning their next mini-vacation together.
Additionally, she also enjoys being involved with the other great ladies of Christian Assembly through the Women’s Ministries. When she can find the time, she loves scrapbooking and a variety of craft projects. Reading is also a passion for her. She often will read a couple of books at the same time and even listen to another audio book while in the car.
Wilda Miller
Women's Ministry Coordinator
Wilda has served in various ministry capacities of over many years. As the Women’s Ministries Director she has an expressed desire to help women cope with our ever changing society and to lead women to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Her goal is to lead the women of Christian Assembly to serve the local church in various capacities as well as support orphanages within the Assemblies of God.
Wilda is very acquainted with ministry as she and her late husband, Vernon, served in full time pastoral ministry from 1954 to 2000. She has 3 adult children and are blessed with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Although retired, Wilda continues to take a very active role in the church and serves as an inspiration to the entire congregation.
